Blue Ocean Aquatics is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated Swim Instructor at our indoor facility in Lake Grove at Pequa Physical Therapy. This position is ideal for an experienced instructor passionate about teaching swimming to young children, ranging from six months to seven years old. Dates: Starting May 4, 2024
Schedule: Tuesday from 3-6pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00-2:30pm.
Experience: At least 1 year of teaching swimming lessons to children from six months to age seven in both a group and private setting.
Pay: $15-18/hr, depending upon experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct private swimming lessons for children aged six months to seven years, ensuring a fun, safe, and educational environment.
- Plan and implement lesson plans suitable for various ages and skill levels, focusing on water safety, basic swimming techniques, and progressive skill development.
- Engage with children and their parents or guardians to communicate progress, provide feedback, and offer recommendations for further improvement.
- Ensure the safety of all participants by adhering to and enforcing pool rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain the swimming area and equipment before and after lessons, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Monitor the progress of each student, adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs and abilities.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required, to stay updated on the latest teaching methods and safety protocols.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience as a swim instructor, with a strong background in teaching young children.
- Current and valid Lifeguarding/CPR/AED/FA certification. Preference will be given to those who are Water Safety Instructor certified.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage young learners and build trust with parents or guardians.
- A patient, encouraging, and enthusiastic approach to teaching, with a focus on creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Availability to work the required hours: Tuesdays from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Days are flexible, however, preference will be given to those who can work all three days.
