Blue Ocean Aquatics is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated Lifeguard at our indoor facility in Lake Grove at Pequa Physical Therapy. We are currently seeking a vigilant and responsible Lifeguard to join our team. This position is critical for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients engaging in swim lessons. Dates: Starting May 4, 2024
Schedule: Tuesday from 3-6pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00-2:30pm.
Experience: At least 1 year of teaching swimming lessons to children from six months to age seven in both a group and private setting.
Pay: $15-18/hr, depending upon experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor swimming activities in the pool area to prevent accidents, enforce pool rules, and ensure a safe environment for all clients.
- Respond quickly and efficiently to any sign of distress or emergency, administering first aid and CPR as needed.
- Conduct regular safety checks of the pool area, equipment, and water quality to comply with health and safety standards.
- Educate clients on safe swimming practices and pool rules to minimize risks and promote a positive swimming experience.
- Collaborate with swim instructors and physical therapy staff to facilitate a supportive and safe environment for swim lessons and therapy sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of pool usage, incident reports, and maintenance activities.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on the latest safety protocols and emergency response techniques.
Requirements
- Current lifeguard certification from a recognized organization, with at least 1 year of lifeguarding experience.
- Proficiency in performing CPR and first aid, with current certifications.
- Strong observational skills to detect potential hazards or safety violations and to respond to emergencies effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of enforcing pool rules with diplomacy and providing clear instructions during emergencies.
